if you dont mind me asking, what is the pay like?
Mandie Pdgmandie on April 25th, 2005 11:53 pm (UTC)
it depends
It depends on the position and your experience (not just camp-experience, child-experience, certifications (cpr, etc) ). There is a rough estimate on the webpage.....

Keep the questions coming! :-)

Is there a preference for hiring actual girl scouts?
Mandie Pdgmandie on April 25th, 2005 11:51 pm (UTC)
Of course not!
They don't require you to be a girl scout, I'm not and this is my 3rd summer working for GS camps.... All they ask is that you are supportive of what they stand for and are willing to learn some things (outdoor skills, gs methods for outdoor skills, songs, gs pledge, etc).

Any other questions? :-)

Re: Of course not!
I'm applying.

And I asked because I am a girl scout, some councils only hire girl scouts, girl guides and former ones.

Um, is there anything I should know or say?

Re: Of course not!
LOL...hmmm should know? LOL, i know....our camp director (whose camp name is gleep) is super nice...sometimes she comes across (on the phone) as uber-intimidating, but she's really a huge softie!

I'm so excited to hear you're applying.... I'd love to talk more with you specifically.....If you'd email me your information (name and general area where you're from) i can pass the information onto the director to let her know to expect ya :-D (That also helps because that way she won't get international staff to fill it :-D)

If you want to email me with that, you can...you don't have to by any means..... Is there anything in specific you have questions about? I can answer a lot of them, give you an idea of what the programs are like, how you can use your skills/talents/hobbies to fit into an area that you'll enjoy...

:grins: I'm so excited, i just posted that on a whim! I actually got my job there last summer through a random connection on the internet (through the message boards on ACA) and I love my camp, the director, the staff, the girls...they are great!

Errr... I spoke too soon. My grandfather is having another heart sugery this summer, so I have to stay in Oklahoma and help him around the house and doing the driving.

I'm sad though, it looked so pretty. And girl scout camp was always such fun. Maybe I'll be able to go next year.
